Don't abuse your postings on a site. If you comment when you have nothing interesting to say other than plugging your site, you can really turn people off. If you post too much about your site to increase web traffic, or spam blog, your result could backfire. People could develop a negative view of your site and avoid it. Only mention your site if you can work it into the topic of the postings. You do not want to turn off your target audience.
It's helpful to do some online networking. Find other people with sites that would attract your target audience, and email the site owners. Ask for a quote from them for an online article, or invite them to do a guest appearance on your blog or write an article for your site.
Site owners who want more exposure and increased free web traffic, may want to write an article or be a guest blogger for a post on another site. The other site may be flattered to have you do this and may offer a link back to your site from theirs or may put you on their blog roll.
